Make Your Own THANKFUL Banner

One of our favorite parts about this time of year are the fun holiday decorations! I usually host Thanksgiving dinner at my house, and even though I love to decorate for every season, I really always want something new for the big day!  This year I decided I wanted a pennant banner to either hang over my mantle of the fireplace or over my mirror at the front entry way.  I just can't decide where to hang this.  What do you think?  Where would you hang this darling banner?  This Thankful Triangle Banner is easy to make at home, fun to do with your kids and also makes a great gift for the holiday season.  If you aren't hosting, just think, you could make this and bring it as a hostess gift.  What Thanksgiving host wouldn't love to have this?

Along with Thanksgiving, you can also make your own banners for Christmas, birthday parties or a lot of other special occasions. To learn how to make your own Triangle Banner, follow our simple steps below!

Thanksgiving Day Homemade DIY Banner

To get started, you will need our 12 Natural Burlap Triangle Pennant Banners, acrylic paint, stencils and paint sponges. We chose paint colors that we thought would work great for fall, but you can pick any colors of your choice! Dark and bright colors do work best on these banners.  We chose an orange, black and a burgundy.  Aren't the colors super fun?

Step 1

Once you have all the items listed above, you'll want to get each stencil ready for your word of choice. For our tutorial, we did Thankful, but you could also do Grateful or Thanksgiving. When you have your paint ready, put the stencil over the triangle and apply the paint with the sponge. It can also be helpful to tape the stencil onto the triangle to get it to stay put. Once you've finished one triangle, you can complete this process for each letter.

Step 2

After you have painted each letter on your triangles, give the paint time to dry.

Step 3

Once the paint is dry and all your letters are completed, you'll want to tie together each of the triangles in order to form your word. You can choose to tie them close together, as shown in our demo above. Or you can leave more room in between if you are wanting a longer banner. You can also attach ribbons, tulle, fabric or any other decor between the letters to add even more interest and personality.  Be sure to make this just how you would love it, and make it your own!

Step 4

Now it's time to spice up your Thanksgiving Triangle Banner! We chose to add ribbon to the end of ours. You can see different examples of ribbon you can add here. To spice it up more, you can also paint on more designs if you have additional triangles left over. Be sure to have fun with it!
